Yumiko Nakayama graduated from Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology (TUMSAT), Tokyo, Japan in 2017. She belongs to the Laboratory of Fish Pathology in the Graduate School of Marine Science and Technology, TUMSAT as a Masters student. She is interested in fish mucosal immune responses, especially in antigen uptake on the gill mucosal surface.
She focuses on mechanisms of antigen uptake and antigen presentation by the gill epithelial antigen sampling (GAS) cells. One of the main goals in her study is the development of a needle-free, mucosal vaccination system targeting GAS cells for the aquaculture industry.
