Biography

Dr Robert Ellis is a research fellow at University of Exeter, UK. His research focuses on investigating adaptation in animals exposed to environmental stress, and specifically the impact of water quality on the physiology of commercially important aquatic species.

In particular he is driven by the question of how a mechanistic understanding of animal physiology can be used to improve the productivity and sustainability of aquaculture, and conversely how aquaculture can be used to help understand future climate change impacts. Sitting at the juncture of these two fields, his research therefore aims to address an issue of huge societal importance, vital for global food security, nutrition and poverty alleviation.
