Biography

Kelly’s work focuses on aquatic animal pathogens and combines approaches based upon histopathology, transmission electron microscopy and molecular systematics for the classification of novel and emerging pathogens. She has considerable experience in the diagnosis of disease in experimental, farmed and wild aquatic animals, in particular crustaceans.

Kelly has a specific interest in the diagnosis and taxonomy of invertebrate viruses and is currently developing techniques to enhance the classification of non-culturable viruses.
