Prof. B. Vaseeharan received his Bachelor and Master degree in Science from Sivandhi Adhithanar College, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, India and Scott Christian College, Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli, India respectively. He awarded his Ph. D degree in Zoology from Madras University with specialization in Biotechnology. He received Post doctoral fellowship from National Science Council- Taiwan and worked in National Taiwan Ocean University, Keelung, Taiwan during the period from 2003 to 2007.
His knowledge in the subject and fervent towards research was well appreciated by his mentors and fetched him “YOUNG SCIENTIST AWARD” – 2009 by the Department of Science and Technology, New Delhi, India and many other awards. From the year 2008 onwards, he served as Head in the Department of Animal Health and Management, Alagappa University, Karaikudi. His areas of research in the field of Biomaterials and Biotechnology in Animal Health, Crustacean Molecular Biology and Genomics, Nanopharmacology and Nanotoxicology.
He has published 117 research articles in peer reviewed journals with the total impact factor of 233 (Two hundred and thirty three) with each article average impact factor is 1.5. His total citations of 1968, and h-index of 23. Apart from India, he established his research activities with Overseas collaborating Universities such as Queens University of Belfast, UK, National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan and Center of Excellence for Shrimp Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (CENTEX SHRIMP), Mahidol University, Thailand. His research projects were funded by University Grants Commission (UGC), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Department Science & Technology (DST), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), INDO-UK and INDO-TAIWAN.
As a researcher, his aim is to offer high quality data and credible work in scientific research. As a guide to young research scholars, his aim is to provide them a good research management and outstanding research knowledge. In both these roles, he continuously strives to work for a safer and better human society, because to him science is not just a research, but is much more. He is on Editorial Boards of Journals, chaired many National/International conferences and has presented invited and keynote lectures.
