Biography

Anita received my PhD degree in biotechnology from the University of Agriculture in Krakow, Poland, and she has been working at Moredun Research Institute (MRI), Department of Vaccine Development in Edinburgh, Scotland since 2006.

She initially took part in a project focusing on identifying novel vaccine candidates for Streptococcus uberis mastitis in dairy cattle, for which she used both comparative genomics and proteomics to screen sub-cellular fractions of thebacteria for conserved antigens to generate recombinant proteins as potential vaccine candidates. Recently, Anita joined the Aquaculture Research Group at MRI. My current project focuses on vaccine development for streptococcosis in tilapia caused by Streptococcus agalactiae.
